From the Whistle
It is great to see the junior members of UDNA stepping up and learning umpiring skills.
Mia Clough and Antonia Bewley did a great job controlling junior games.
Well done to Maddy Sharp, Sarah Elsworth and Holly Nowland for taking on this important role.
Wanted - senior players are needed to umpire cadet games.
We are struggling to roster umpires for the 12.30 timeslot. Please contact Ruth or Loz if you can help on Saturdays.
The players deserve more than one umpire controlling the whole game!

Match Reports Round 3
Round three saw yet another weekend of fabulous netball.
Pipeline vs Wipeouts
In their third game of the year, both teams are finding their feet and learning to trust their team mates. Both teams were commended by their coaches for their enthusiasm, but it was Pipeline that was dominant on court today, allowing their coaches, Abbey Montgomery and Lucy Hargrave, to experiment with players in unfamiliar positions. Coach Lorraine Nowland was philosophical about Wipeout's loss, and is hoping the coming weeks will see her team reach its full potential.
Riptide vs Breakers
Congratulations to both teams for a lovely game with some great skills on display. In the end, though, Riptide was too strong – with lovely shooting and strong passing down the court they were always going to be a tough team to beat. Special mention goes to Alivia Brown in GD, who was everywhere in defence. Kylie Robinson, Breakers coach, says she will be working with her team on the vital skills of coming forward in attack and opening up the court. When Riptide can abandon their “bunch of grapes” breaking strategy, they will be a force to be reckoned with.
Akwas vs Bomboras
The Akwas did their coach, Dionne Lochrin, proud with a good win against the Bomboras. As this team trains and plays, they are coming together as a cohesive unit – which was displayed in their improved calling, communication, passing and timing. The Bomboras played well, with some lovely shooting and intercepts, but both teams have some work to do on their passing accuracy and defence strategies.
Mollymook vs Rennies
What a game Mollymook had against Rennies. The girls played great netball today with some awesome intercepts, defence and shooting by both teams. It went right down to the final siren with Rennies winning 16 to 15. Thanks to both teams for a fantastic game - so entertaining!
First Nationals vs Supertubes
This was possibly the clash of the round – a high scoring game that see-sawed with each quarter, and two talented teams that threw everything at each other for the full hour. Supertubes dominated the first half with flying intercepts and great court work, but the First Nationals never said die. With Keele Brown and Ally England everywhere for First Nationals, Supertubes had to work hard for every centre and every turnover. Not to be out done by her sister, Hannah England performed well under the post for the Supertubes, but her job was made more difficult by close marking from Abbey Robinson. Special mention must go to Maddison Condie who took some well timed intercepts, has the gift of slowing the game down and threw some beautiful bounce passes. In the final minutes, the score was tied, with First Nationals managing to control the game long enough to pull off a 34-33 win.
