From swimming at Mollymook Beach to climbing Pigeon House Mountain, all the local attractions get a mention in Keep It Simple, a song written by Leone and country singer-songwriter Matt Scullion earlier this year.
The song is complete and, thanks to an ArtFest Fast Forward grant, Leone is set to start work on a film clip which will showcase the region as a relaxing and welcoming tourist destination.
She said collaborating with Matt, who now lives in Nashville, had been on her bucket list and, when she was approached to write a song, she jumped at the chance to make her dream become a reality.
“The Chamber of Tourism and Business was looking for a song with local identity and I have always been an advocate for promoting the local area, so was excited to take part in the project,” she said.
“We came up with Keep It Simple (the Milton/Ulladulla song) which features Mollymook Beach, Yatte Yattah, Pigeon House Mountain and, of course, Milton Ulladulla.
Leone believes people come to the region to “find the simplicity in life”.
“The song is pitched at tourists and promotes our area as a friendly destination, with lots of things to do.
“We’ll be starting work on the film clip soon and I hope to include lots of local faces and community groups.
“I’m working with Sunflower House, the Milton Follies and other organisations and we will be filming at locations all over town.”
Leone’s Fast Forward grant will help pay for professional recording of the song, as well as filming and editing, however it will not cover the full cost, so she has set up a GoFundMe crowdfundingaccount to help finance the project.
Leone will work with photographer and filmmaker Rosie Spooner, along with professional comedian Tim Ferguson, of Doug Anthony Allstars fame, who will bring a dose of laughs to the film clip.
“People love to laugh and I feel that we have a better chance of people enjoying the sites of the local area seen through the medium of comedy,” she said.
The clip will be used by the chamber to promote the region and will be uploaded to Youtube.
It is expected to be completed and launched during ArtFest.
Keep It Simple lyrics (sneak peek)
I was in a slump, kinda feeling in the dumps
I was choking in the city smoke
I went down to Ulladulla to escape all the drama
I was hanging out to take it slow
I was dreaming ‘bout Mollymook Beach,= yeah
I was chattin’ at the club, I was swimming in the sea
Got to get down to God's Country...
