During the past week the Dockers thought they were experiencing apparitions when Brad B and Adam C hit the training track for the first time this year.
Over the past few weeks the Dockers just lacked that extra player punch, to put the better sides away, but with the possible inclusion of these two players who knows what will happen.
The Dockers hit the ground with 18 players after a scurry on Friday night realising they had only 15 players for the second week in a row.
With Brad B stepping up and Darcy and Kelsey from the 17s also making themselves available, they gave the Dockers some relief for the game.
The Suns had 23 players and initially the Dockers thought they might have their hands full on the day.
Pre-game the players were told of the importance of this game to the club and its path going forward.
From the bounce it was obvious Big Mitch was going to be dominant with support play from Harrison Donohue’s brother Mitch, while Liam Ryan and Gatty were going to be unbeatable on the day.
Brad B and Cody Haub having a big impact up forward, with Shane Haub taking 10 years off on the day and moving like a 30 year old with the grace and speed of a thousand startled gazelles!
Up back Jimmy H, Lochy C, Luke Evans, Craig H, Shuffles and Guy B were having a day out, with every Suns forward attack being worked back by the Dockers machine to the forwards and scoring with direct majors again and again.
Bush had the “hitman” tag for the day, but had little time to live up to the task as he seemed to have the ball on a string through all quarters.
Craig “Chop” Thompson looked likely to have his best game so far before copping a knock to the head.
That did not take him out but slowed him down to a sprint against the sluggish Suns.
Playing like a 40-year-old, Peter Ryan was doing all the right stuff and was inspirational to the elderly group of watching supporters.
Yes, even at this age you can still have a crack and be an effective cog in a well-oiled Dockers machine.
It was great to have Kelsey and Darcy as interchange when the players got tired or injured to be able to sub off and recover before going into battle again.
The end result was Cody kicked a lazy 12 goals, with Harrisons brother kicking 5 goals and Craig T 3, Gatty 2 and Big Shane H 1.
Final scores were Dockers 25-12-162 to the Suns 4-3-27.
It is great to see the travelling administration team of Steelo and Watsonovic at every game.
Remember there is a sausage sizzle every Thursday after training, so get along.

NEXT WEEK
The Dockers are on the road again, playing the Northern District Tigers at Northern Districts.
Again it is going to be essential to get players on the track during the week and be able to field a full strength team against the Tigers.
