I may as well just repeat my last six editions of the Weekly Wash as we have gone from getting a couple of waves, to being a little bit spoilt, to being cherished by Huey the surf god as if we were Richie Rich carrying a rabbits foot, because we are now into our seventh week straight of amazing waves.

And unlike those pesky hot bottom burps your dad expels after a night watching the footy, even the winds have been favourable with clean offshore breezes making the waves even more striking.

The seas ranged from 3 to 6ft with a hint of east thrown in this last week which made the waves wrap into our coastline on a slightly different line.

What this did was give us a chance to explore another wonderful break so boredom was definitely not going to happen

Sunday morning was a corker, with clean winds and strong east swell throwing down on some beaches harder than $20 on a horse in the Melbourne Cup.

There have not been too many things that have made Jason Harper smile of late, firstly he is a long suffering Manly supporter which is pretty sad in itself and secondly his little seven-year-old grommet Reece beat him in an arm wrestle, but there was no containing the joy when he stroked into the wave of the morning at Narrawallee.

Jason waited patiently till the wedge approached him and picked him up for a ride where he could release all his frustrations on the walls of water and felt that awesome feeling of endorphins that surfing often release.

While we are talking about endorphins being released into the system, it was sensory overload at Mollymook beach on Saturday when not only was there a great waves on display but half the town turned out to try some of the surfboards on offer from world renowned shaper Matt Bilois from Lost Surfboard.

The grommets could not contain themselves as there was a bevy of surfboards thrown onto the grass where they could choose any rig their heart desired for a surf and feel of what it is like to have a ride on the boards the world’s best surfers ride.

On the back of the success of this one we are currently in talks about hosting Darren Handley from DHD surfboards in the near future.

Darren makes surfboards for world champions Mick Fanning and Steph Gilmore and also just took out the stab in the dark competition where pro surfer Julian Wilson rode 10 stickerless or non-branded boards from 10 different shapers for 10 days and then chose a winner.

On the pro circuit iconic Ala Moana Bowls returned to the World Surf League (WSL) Hawaii schedule with the Local Motion Surf Into Summer kickoff. 

Waves in the three to four foot range offered the perfect stage for local professionals to battle it out for valuable ratings points. 

A QS 1,000 rated event, 112 of Hawaii's best turned out in force. 

Haleiwa's Eala Stewart posted the highest single-wave score of the day in the Round of 96, a near-perfect 9.50 to narrowly edge ahead of Kekoa Bacalso. 

Both advanced from the four-man heat. 

Waves were a little inconsistent but offered high scoring potential on the better rides of the day. 

A light onshore breeze made conditions trickier, causing the wave sections to reel off faster over the shallow reef. 

One of the standouts on day one was 16-year-old Cody Young of Makawao, Maui. 

This is only the second professional event of Young's career, making every wave a key learning and competitive experience. 

"You have less pressure when you're younger going into the events so you can kind of let loose," said Young. 

"That's always a little bit of an advantage. But then everybody's really good and everybody knows how to surf under pressure, so it's like you just kind of go for it."

The amateur divisions of the Local Motion Surf Into Summer are next to compete, with the pros returning to battle for the event title Sunday.
