The popular comedian remains in hospital and her management company said her health issues were “critical”.
“Due to a major health issue we regret that Fiona will not be able to travel to Ulladullirious at for her show at this time,” spokesperson Mark David from Stand Up Comedians said.
“She would love nothing more than to come and perform but the health issues are critical.
“We hope to be able to come back to perform at this fantastic festival.”
Sarah Watterson said festival organisers were “incredibly saddened” by the news.
“We all wish her a full and speedy recovery,” Sarah said.
She said no replacement would be found to perform at the Ulladulla ExServos on Friday July 31, but added that plenty of other events would ensure the festival was a success.
“It is very tricky to lock in alternative comedy performers of Fiona’s calibre at such short notice and unfortunately haven’t been successful in finding a replacement,” Sarah explained.
“For those people who have purchased tickets we have a number of options available to you including a transfer to two other shows or a refund.”
Everyone who has purchased tickets will be contacted directly by the festival or a member of the Ulladulla ExServos, depending on where they purchased their tickets, to discuss your options.
Sarah said people would be offered tickets to Thursday’s Moosquarade Frocktail Party at Cupitt’s Winery or the Kings of Comedy show on Saturday August 1 at the Ulladulla Civic Centre or a refund.
She said, while the cancellation was a “significant hiccup” for the festival, priority had to be given to Fiona and her health.
“The festival still boasts 14 events and 15 comedians – we maintain our promise to tickle your funny bone,” she added.
“If you are looking for a comedy fix on Friday night come along to The Commercial Hotel for the Open Mic competition where the audience will see fresh, raw local comedy hopefuls honing their first few minutes of material.
“Some will be great, some will be terrible, but all will be funny - and you may even see a household name of tomorrow.”
