Juniors
Saturday Morning Junior Comp Sponsored by Bakers Delight and Mr G’s Deli:
Hello to all our juniors. Another fantastic morning greeted us for our weekly hit.
It is obvious that there is some practice being done as I am seeing improvement in all of you. Well done.
The Junior Club Championships are on August 1 and 2. They will start straight after Saturday morning tennis finishes.
There are sheets up on the junior notice board at the club to put your name down, so you need to get your partners together.
There will be singles, doubles and mixed doubles available.
The age groups are even starting at 10 and under through to 16 and under and open championships.
If you are going to play, please make sure you are available all Saturday and Sunday.
All entries need to be in by July 29. The cost to enter is $7.00 for one event $10.00 for two events and $12.00 for three events.
You can enter up to a maximum of three events.
I will be starting to put the draw together on Thursday, so if you haven’t already got your name down the registration sheets will be up in the clubhouse till tomorrow morning.
You can also give me a ring to enter as well.
We will get the tournament started straight after tennis on Saturday morning.
On August 8 the club is celebrating its 60th birthday.
As part of the celebrations there will be a sausage sizzle straight after Saturday morning tennis that day.
We are also lucky to have a special guest for our birthday, John Marks who reached a career high of 44 in the world rankings in singles and was the runner-up in the 1978 Australian Open men’s singles final.
John has kindly offered to conduct a free clinic after tennis on the morning of our birthday, directly after our morning tennis.
Any juniors interested in participating, please let me know on this Saturday morning.
Any children interested in playing tournaments either the Medibank Junior Development Series or Australian Ranking Tournaments please feel free to contact me to discuss.
Last Sunday we hosted a Medibank Junior Tournament. Please see next week’s paper for a full report and all the results of our locals who played.
Please remember that if you want to check if tennis is on if the weather has been less than favourable you can contact me on 0417 437 006 after 7.30am on Saturday.
Also just a reminder for players to be at the courts about 8.15 so that we can get underway by 8.30am.
Can I remind all parents and players to look at their draw to see when you are rostered on for duty?
If you are down for duty could you see me first thing in the morning to run through what the duties entail?
These tasks are working in the canteen, sweeping the floor and emptying bins. This help is much appreciated, and as the saying goes, many hands make light work.
