The new play space will be built around existing equipment, behind the Mollymook surf club.
The Shoalhaven City Council and the Touched by Olivia foundation will work together to create a park that can be utilised by everyone, including older children, and those with a disability.
The current plans show a 1.8 metre school style fence surrounding the park, a new toilet block, a coffee cart, and new play equipment.
“This plan is only indicative,” said senior strategic planner in social infrastructure for the Shoalhaven Council, Susan Edward.
“The final draft based on community feedback, will come back for us to look over soon.”
Members of the public had the opportunity to comment on the different types of equipment available at the Mollymook Beach markets in May, and the plans were open for comment until recently.
Some members of the community have expressed concerns about the fence that is shown in the indicative plan, surrounding the park.
They have said that a fence is not a substitute for supervision and that it would pose a risk if people tried to climb it drunk.
There were also concerns about the look of the fence, with some members of the public saying that they felt it might be too prison like.
Other park goers, say that a fence would be a good, safe addition to the planned play area.
"A fence would be great near all these roads," said Bree Gavranic, who was with her son at the Mollymook park this week.
"We need more fenced parks," she said.
“The fence is there to assist people who have children with a disability and for parents to feel as though their children are safe,” said Susan.
Local businesses will also have the opportunity to operate the coffee cart in the area, if that goes ahead, and people are being encouraged to apply for this opportunity now.
“We are hoping to start work on the park within a year,” Susan said.
