A leaking roof failed to put a dampener on Wednesday night’s South Coast Tourism Awards held at the Ulladulla Civic Centre.
Guests and awards hosts, Loz and Jack from Power FM, were surprised when the roof above the stage began leaking during a heavy downpour.
The lectern was shifted away from the leak and buckets brought in to catch the drips in the recently refurbished auditorium.
Mayor Joanna Gash and Shoalhaven Councillors were in attendance.
A council spokesperson said staff had been aware of the leak and would be fixing it in the coming week.
“This is the first time the roof over the stage had leaked since the refurbishment,” the spokesperson said.
“Given the particular conditions on the night with the wind speed, rainfall and direction these can sometimes combine to cause random leaks.”
The civic centre has been open a year following an $11 million upgrade.
Renovations are also about to get underway in the foyer and kitchen area so the space can be used as a bar on Friday evenings.
