Josh, 11, hasn’t had a haircut for almost a year and he will shave his long blonde locks at the relay in memory of his grandfather who died of melanoma in 2010.
The Ulladulla Public School student has already raised more than $250, but hopes to reach $1000 for his Bunnings Ulladulla relay team.
Josh said he has attended the Relay for Life at both Ulladulla and Batemans Bay every year since his grandfather died and he hopes people will make a donation to help the cause.
In the lead up to the event at the Milton Showground on October 17 and 18, Josh will dye his hair pink and leave it pink once he reaches his $1000 goal.
His dad Vaughan said he was very proud of Josh.
Also getting involved in the relay again this year will be Claire Ridley, 9, who will read a poem during the Saturday night Hope Ceremony in memory of her grandma Liz Brook.
And Lilly-Rose Angus, 10, together with her sister Molly McKinnon, will participate in the Opening Ceremony in honour of their mother Heidi Brook.
All three girls are members of the We’re Ovarit team which has already raised more than $1000 and will host an ovarian cancer stall during the event.
Many children are part of relay teams, while others have created their own teams after being touched by cancer in their families or schools.
