The call has gone out for musicians aged up to 18 years, with auditions planned for December 16.

The finalists will play on the stage at the Ulladulla-Milton Lions Club Australian Day festival at Mollymook Beach on January 26.

Times manager Freddie Simon said the competition was always popular with up and coming performers and he has encouraged youngsters to enter, with $2,000 cash of offer as first prize.

The second place getter will win $1000 and third $500 to be put towards music tuition, instruments or performance costs.

Freddie said the competition was “a great opportunity for our talented youngsters to showcase their skills”.

“Performing in front a historically large and enthusiastic Australian Day crowd is a fantastic way for up and comers to take the next step in their musical development, and possibly take a share in the prize money on offer,” he added.

The scholarship will be open to individual or group performers, either instrumentalists or singers, who are 18 years old or younger on Australia Day, January 26, 2016.

Performers must live in the Ulladulla-Milton district or attend one of the local schools, with the northern boundary at Bendalong and the southern boundary at East Lynne.

Auditions will be held on December 16th 2015 at the Milton Theatre, with finalists chosen to perform two acts at the festival.

Last year’s winner Caitlin Bonser performed an acapella compilation, which focused heavily on rhythm and blues.

Zeke Cameron took second place after singing and playing the trumpet, while Brea Holland place third with her theatrical vocal performance.
