He is encouraging people to attend a meeting at the Ulladulla Civic Centre on Wednesday night.
“If the proposed merger between Kiama and Shoalhaven councils is approved there will be problems with management, logistics, service delivery and representation by reducing the workforce that manages the city assets while the population continues to grow at greater than 1.5 per cent per annum, Cr Kitchener said.
Cr Kitchener claims the merger will have an immediate impact on residents.
He said the meeting will allow residents to listen to arguments for and against the proposed merger, and make up their own minds.
“If the government doesn’t know what the community wants it will interpret inaction as condoning its position,” he added.
“Opportunities to respond to the process are vanishing very quickly.”
