Mr Tedeschi spoke about Australia’s only case of a child being kidnapped for ransom, and the quest to find out the truth about what happened to Graham Thorne.
He talked about the mystery that surrounded the case, and how eventually it was a number of unlikely characters in the story, who solved the case.
A car enthusiast who recognised the car that the kidnapper drove, a postman with a good knowledge of Sydney houses and the then new DNA technology, being put to the test.
He also told of the grisly discovery of Grahame’s body by some young children, in a vacant lot under a rock.
The case was prosecuted by Mr Tedeschi along with a number of other high profile cases such as the backpacker murders for which Ivan Milat was convicted.
Mr Tedeschi is the senior crown prosecutor for NSW and deals with the most difficult cases.
The Sydney based lawyer made the trip to Ulladulla as a favour to his friend, Glenn Wran who is a member of the Rotary Club of Milton Ulladulla.
“Tonight is not about raising money,” Said rotarian, Glenn Rowen when he addressed the crowd.
“It is about making sure people have a good time,” he said.
The event was held at the Ulladulla Civic Centre, and more than 200 people attended.
Audience members had the opportunity to ask questions about the Grahame Thorne case and buy signed copies of Mr Teduschi’s book, Kidnapped.
In addition to being a distinguished prosecutor and true crime author, he is also an award winning photographer.
He has been nominated for the National Photographic Portrait Prize at the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra three times, and has had his work featured in national and international exhibitions.
He has also had 14 solo exhibitions showcasing his work around the world.
