While prices may have spiked overnight at some petrol stations, the NRMA said they won’t stay that way.

For more than two weeks, motorists have been able to fill up and pay less than $1 a litre.
But that seemed to change on Tuesday with motorists in some suburbs of the Illawarra waking up to petrol prices hikes of almost 20 cents.
At one service station in Woonona the price for E10 jumped from 99 cents on Monday to 117 cents on Tuesday morning.
NRMA Illawarra Director Marisa Mastroianni said the average price for unleaded in the Illawarra was 117.2 cents on Tuesday.
But she advised motorists to wait before filling up as the prices might fall soon.
“The local price cycle is spiking today and tomorrow, but we expect it to start falling toward the end of the week,” Ms Mastroianni said on Tuesday.
“Next week, prices should begin to return to the $1 per litre mark, so wait as long as possible before filling up.”
Ms Mastroianni said that in the meantime the cheapest place for fuel in the Illawarra was at Albion Park.
