Rotary president Clive Cross said the group would financially and morally support the garden plan following a presentation by proponent Val Tranter from the Ulladulla and Districts Garden Club on Tuesday night.
“We were very impressed by the plans,” Mr Cross said.
“Members unanimously voted to inject funds into the project on an on-going basis.
“We believe it is a really important community project.
“The beautification of the civic centre grounds would enhance the view of the harbour.
“The whole thing is beautiful.”
The garden club is seeking approval for a garden that will feature a bridge, gazebo, seating, archways and pathways set among flowerbeds alongside Millard’s Creek.
It is hoped there will be a selection of national, international and indigenous garden beds as well.
Mrs Tranter said the garden could be used for functions such as weddings, community displays, long lunches, wine tastings and musical events.
She said, while Ulladulla “has plenty of lovely parks, the area doesn’t have a garden that showcases the region’s natural vegetation”.
Rotary’s financial support will help pay for the construction of the garden infrastructure and development applications.
Once the bridge, gazebo and other fixtures are built, garden club members will built, plant and tend to the garden beds.
Mrs Tranter hopes the garden will be well underway so the club can use the venue to host the National Garden Club Convention in November 2017.
