Later in the day, the dead dolphin was found washed up on the sand.
The ORRCA (Organisation for the Rescue and Research of Cetaceans in Australia) were notified and have a volunteer on the scene taking measurements and trying to determine the cause of death.
There are no visible marks on the dolphin and it is believed to be an adult measuring just more than two metres long.
A spokesperson for ORRCA said the marks could just be from being washed up on the sand.
