The Milton Ulladulla Croquet Club now uses a single lawn at the Milton Showground and the fundraiser will go towards paying for a second one.
On May 29 members will stage a swap meet of bric-a-brac and typical garage sale items.
They get many and frequent visiting groups, including people who stay in the adjacent caravan park and with a second lawn aspire to host other clubs in social and competition games.
The club has 50 members, some non-players, but needs more younger blood, according to their publicity officer Shirley Raine.
“Some of the members are aged in their 80s,” she said.
“It’s a game of skill, and is not just for older people. There are a number of young people who play and excel in the sport.”
Most club members play the simplest form of the game, golf croquet. Winding it up a notch they can also play a version called ricochet and the top competitive level is known as association.
Tactics are similar to snooker.
They play during winter and members can have a knock any day, with sessions between 9am and midday, or from midday to 3pm.
Guests are also welcome.
