Playing at Camden against the Western Rams, the Greater Southern Stars won 30-6 in the second round of the Country Rugby League Championships.
Bulldogs’ Hatch, who was the captain of the Stars, said it was a great experience, that she is cherishing.
“We went in to camp on Friday and had a long day of training, that involved four sessions,” Hatch said.
“To end the day, we had a practice match against the boys, which was good fun.”
In the actual match on Saturday, the team only led 10-6 at half-time before they hit their straps in the second half.
“I think we were all nervous in the first half, as it was the first real time we had all played together, or at this level,” Hatch said.
“But in the second half, we relaxed more and started to play our natural games.”
The try scorers in the 24 point win were Kezie Apps (two), Jaime Emerson (two), Alana Glasson and Georgia Thomas.
The girls will now travel to Dubbo on Friday, before taking on the East Coast Dolphins at 10am on Saturday.
“I don’t know much about the Dolphins apart from them having a couple of Australia touch footballers in their squad,” Hatch said.
“And if we win this weekend, we will play the winner of the other semi-final between the Greater Northern Tigers and Central Coast.
“It's such a great opportunity for us girls to get this chance to go one step further and hopefully it will inspire other females to join such a great sport.”
