The book launch will see DC Green’s latest book for 10-210 year olds bringing library party goers plenty of laughter and warm feelings.
It’s like Game of Thrones except with four million monsters, and is similar in scope to Lord of the Rings, but with female characters who kick ass and make way better jokes
- DC Green
The launch of local author DC Green’s latest City of Monsters book at 11.30am will feature “a mix of weird jokes, dramatic readings, bad rapping, gratuitous self-promotion, audience participation and the chance to buy a rare signed copy from my pile of books for all ages and personality types” said DC.
“It’s like Game of Thrones except with four million monsters, and is similar in scope to Lord of the Rings, but with female characters who kick ass and tell way better jokes,” said DCGreen.
The market style day from 11 am to 3 pm will get feet tapping with buskers, drummers and The Tribal Funk Orchestra, while authors such as DC, Tim Harris, Allison Taite and Hayden Bridger will get brains zinging and lungs chortling.
Other highlights of the market style day will include face painting, new and used book stalls, delicious food and plenty of tea and coffee.
“Not only will it be a great fun community event, the Friends of Milton Library hope to raise funds for the refurbishment of the library,” said Alison Pakes, Friends of Milton Library committee member.
“New furniture and moveable shelving will transform the library into functional space that can be used by many community groups,” she said.
Volunteers are now staffing the library on Mondays between 9.30am and 5pm, in addition to regular operating days, Wednesdays and Fridays, when the facility is run by Shoalhaven Council staff from 10:30am to 12:30pm and 2pm to 5pm. They hope to extend opening hours on Wednesday and Friday.
The fundraising and launch day will be held in the courtyard outside the Milton Library between 11am and 3pm on Sunday, June 5.
Another fundraising event will be held on June 25 at the Commercial Hotel, with an early music session from 1:30pm until 5:30pm, followed by an evening session from 7:30pm until 11:30. Tickets are available from oztix.com.au.
