In November, an estimated 80 teams of four from Australia and overseas will trek, mountain bike and kayak over a 600 kilometre course in the XPD Exhibition Race through the Shoalhaven.
Teams receive a booklet and maps but the exact course is kept secret until six hours before the start of the race.
"The first team is likely to complete the course in four days."
- Coralie Bell
Once competitors start they will travel 24 hours a day.
“Organiser Geocentric Outdoors thinks ,” said Shoalhaven Tourism team manager Coralie Bell.
“All other teams will be permitted up to eight days to finish.”
Ulladulla will be the basecamp and registration headquarters for the event, to be staged in the region from November 8 to 18.
Geocentric Outdoors and council are working with Destination NSW to maximise the tourism benefits of the event to the Shoalhaven.
“We will focus on packaging regional tourism products and experiences unique to the Shoalhaven to deliver bookings,” Ms Bell said.
The search is on for special products or unique experiences, discounts, catering for self-drive and larger groups, and the capacity of businesses to be open and accessible for the duration of the event.
Expressions of interest to be included in web promotion can be sent in a short email to tourismmanager@shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au by July 4.
