NAIDOC Week celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements, while recognising the contributions Indigenous Australians' make to our country.
To celebrate the start of the week the school hosted a special assembly with a traditional welcoming ceremony, dancers from the Dhurga tribe, didgeridoo players from the Kamilaroi tribe and talks from Dhurga tribe community elders Uncle Fred and Aunty Lucy.
“It is really important to celebrate and make students aware of our indigenous culture,” Ulladulla Primary School Principal Paul Woodcock said.
“So the students have an idea of our history and realise the importance of first Australians and celebrating their history.”
