There are two main walking tracks within the Reserve which can be accessed from the entrance in Warden Street.
The reserve is Crown Land and managed by a board of local trustees who are appointed for a five year term.
Grants can be sought from the Department of Primary Industries for improvements and maintenance.
Recently a successful application was made for $2,000. Part of this Grant was to complete a new section of track.
This is now complete and called ‘The Leafy Loop’. This project was suggested and completed by Bill Giles, who has been a trustee for 15 years.
He was ably assisted by Philip Smith-Hill who started as a volunteer and has now become a trustee.
Mapping the track through virgin bush was not easy and often dangerous.
Finally a loop was marked out and a bobcat hired to cut the track.
The result has seen new vistas opened out, a flower which has not been seen for many years is prominent and a seat provides a peaceful spot to ponder the grandeur of a coastal forest.
Bill has now retired as a trustee but continues on his good work as a volunteer. The ‘Leafy Loop’ is available for all to enjoy.
