The group played family feud, had Christmas quizzes and played card games.
“The quizzes led to other discussions,” said coordinator Annie Alexander.
“Today it was about what women do when they are attracted to men,” she said.
“We have a lot of laughs here.”
The Club has been busy during recent weeks with the usual variety of activities on offer for the group.
June saw a presentation about the prevention of falls.
They were informed about programs which are delivered by qualified exercise physiologists and designed to prevent falls and other related injuries.
Earlier in July the Day Club members were treated to a presentation from Community Transport Aid.
Cheryl Poppe is a volunteer at Community Transport and she spoke to club members about what sort of transport is available for the aging community.
The group learned about concessions and the opal cards.
“It gave people a good explanation about what is available in the community to assist in getting to medical appointments,” said one member.
Booklets were handed out for everyone to refer to in the future.
Cheryl also stayed around and talked individually to members of the group.
Coordinator Annie Alexander has been organising the group since February and says the RSL Day Club are “like family” to each other.
“The group gives people four hours a week out of the house,” she said.
“We try and let the discussion flow at meetings.
“They are all so interesting and everyone has a story to tell,” she said.
At the meetings members are encouraged to get up and talk about themselves or something that matters to them so all their stories can be shared.
Each month they have one outing and one guest speaker. The group also meet to play indoor bowls, knit and some of the ladies make holiday themed craft items for trading tables.
The Club is an affiliation of the Milton-Ulladulla RSL Sub Branch and the Department of Veterans Affairs however anyone is welcome to join.
Currently the club boasts 37 members.
Members meet in the ExServos annexe on Tuesdays at 10am. New members are most welcome.
