The week offered more ups and downs than a yo-yo and more ying than yang, as the waves came and went, then came again.
However when they did materialise there was absolutely scrumptious moments, with Sunday and Monday delivering more goodies than Santa's Nanna.
A very strong ground swell picked up after the bustling westerly winds abated and the whole south coast roared to life, which should hang with us until at least the end of the working week, so surfers be ready!
Sunday was a treat, especially as the waves grew.
One minor setback was the hungry throngs of surfers chasing the rising seas to make up for the somewhat pitiful surf we had last week.
One of the more popular spots was just a little south of Rennies Beach, where a rock ledge appeared and treated us with some impressive slabs.
Like a rose nestled between a hefty bunch of thorns was Katharine Turk.
Katta, who always is impressive in the water, demands respect from her wave ravenous male counterparts and it was no different when she slid past the busy line up to paddle into one of the best looking waves of the morning.
A heaving four foot nugget appeared in front of her, as she spun late and gracefully landed the air drop to comfortably pull up deep inside the throaty intestines of the beast and disappeared, but later emerged a 30 metres further down the way to the loud hoots of all the lads.
Dallas Cowley was another who had a great Sunday, especially as the waves seem to spurt up rapidly at Golf Course Reef before the sun disappeared over the hills.
The waves seemed to get bigger with each set and more, as if Huey hit the magical 'on' button.
Dallas, who chose to sit just a smidge inside the pack, had definitely found the best part to catch the waves.
He found wave after wave surfing each one better than the last, with his manly turns displacing water with every power turn from top to bottom, which was a wondrous sight to finish off a great day of surfing.
Some great news from the school state titles at Port Macquarie last week.
Duo team of Charlie Brophy and Chad Elkins came third in the MR Sheild.
Chad backed it up with a fifth place in the Under 19s all stars.
Well done boys, the town is proud of you both.
The final day of the NSW Grommet State Titles saw an action-packed day of surfing with a new NSW junior champion crowned across the Under 14 divisions.
Fresh off a recent victory at the MR Shield division at the Ocean and Earth NSW Schools Titles at Port Macquarie, Lennox Chell continued his red hot form in the Under 14 Boys final, posting a series of excellent scores, including a near-perfect 9.33 (out of a possible 10 points) for a massive flurry of backside snaps.
After narrowly missing out on qualifying for the Australian junior titles in 2015, Chell set himself the goal of making the event in 2016.
