Milton Pony Club members Emily Higgins and her Welsh Mountain Pony Candy won’t be missing the party.
Candy joined the Higgins family two years ago and became a much-loved member of Milton Pony Club this year.
There’s not much the 27-year-old veteran hasn’t seen in her time and is taking pony club events in her stride.
Nine-year-old Emily has been in the saddle for two years and is an up and coming showjumper.
The keen rider loves pony club and riding with her friends Sophie and Drew.
Candy will celebrate her official birthday with a well-deserved treat.
“She’ll probably have another cupcake, she likes them,” Emily said.
August 1 is chosen as the birthdate of all horses in the southern hemisphere as it falls at the beginning of the foaling season.
This allows all foals born in that season to be considered the same age for competition purposes.
We’ve put together a gallery of Shoalhaven horse pics to celebrate the occasion. If you have any cute photographs of yourself and your horse send them to nicolette.pickard@fairfaxmedia.com.au with a short blurb about why you love your horse, and we will add them to our gallery.
