Therese Lahiff and Yvonne Perrin were defending their winning title from last year in the 50s age group but could only manage a runner-up prize this time winning 3 of their 4 sets. They played extremely well considering Therese is only playing socially these days.
Diane Farmilo and Val Crook played well in the 65 age group but couldn’t quite manage a win despite playing a tie breaker and losing 3-5 against opposition such as Heather Mackay, the world squash and seniors tennis champion.
MUDTA members from Sussex Inlet Pat Callahan and Barbara Hollett also played in Broulee but an injury forced Barbara to retire so Pat continued on paired with a long-forgotten workmate Marie from 50 years ago and after rekindling their friendship…..they won.
Herbie Chee and Col Armstrong were runners-up in their age group on Saturday with the same result for Geoff Cook and Doug Parker in the combined men’s 130 years event on Sunday. After the round robin event they were equal on games with the winners, but had one less set up their sleeves. Paul Woodcock and Phil Bryant had the same outcome after their matches in the combined 120 years men’s doubles.
