At 11am, The Cow Tripped Over the Moon was read at sites across the country for the annual storytime event.
About 15 people were in the Ullladulla Library for the reading, which was followed by craft.
This year’s story, by Tony Wilson and Laura Wood, was about perseverance and was based on the Hey diddle diddle nursery rhyme.
Ulladulla Librarian Vikki Hoskins the event went “very well”.
“We try to promote reading,” she said.
“The kids look like they are having a fabulous time and they are making cows.
“It is all about trying to get parents and kids to read.”
National Simultaneous Storytime is an annual campaign with an aim to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books.
Now in its 17th year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes.
