The awards are an opportunity for communities to recognise the seniors in their area that contribute to making their community an invigorating, inspiring, active and healthy place to live.
“Seniors help make our local South Coast stronger and better,” Member for the South Coast Shelley Hancock said.
“The NSW Seniors Local Achievement Awards are an opportunity to thank a senior for everything they do in the community.
“We are calling on people to nominate seniors who are making a real difference to the lives of those around them.”
Minister for Ageing Tanya Davies said seniors are valued and respected members of our community.
“Whether it is volunteering for a charity, lending a helping hand to a local sporting club or caring for a loved one, older Australians do so much to make our families and communities stronger,” Mrs Davies said.
The 2017 NSW Seniors Local Achievement Awards will celebrate seniors’ achievements in a range of categories, including community service, environment, health and well-being.
Nominations for the 2017 NSW Seniors Local Achievement Awards are open from until February 28 and awards will be presented as part of NSW Seniors Festival, held from March 3-12.
