The group voted to support the concept “in principal” at their July meeting.
With 80 people in attendance voting was mixed; 46 voting for, 11 against, 13 undecided and 10 abstained.
The senior housing facility, which will cost $100 million, has been proposed for Windward Lane, off Slaughterhouse Road.
“The forum supported in principal the idea of having an aged care facility and the need for another aged care facility in the area,” UDCF president Jan Gregory said.
“The biggest concern expressed at our meeting was regarding traffic.
“There were other concerns expressed about general infrastructure but, it was pointed out those become the problems of other people if the numbers increase.”
Mrs Gregory said the development will bring employment to the area in the initial building stages and in long-term facility roles.
“It is very much supported because of the jobs that it will bring, especially if the building of it is given to a local builder who uses local people,” she said.
“It will bring more jobs to local people. Things like the people at the end of the telephone as receptionists and the people who plan activities.”
The development proposal includes plans for 264 self-care units, 89 residential care facilities and associated community facilities.
The building would reach three floors in some parts and include under ground car parks.
