Any ability will be catered for at the annual event, which aims to get disabled people in the water and riding waves.
Disabled Surfing Association of Australia South Coast branch committee member Bryan Rugg said it gave disabled people the opportunity to enjoy a day out.
“It is about making sure everyone has the opportunity to have a ride in the surf,” he said.
“No one can’t participate. We have taken quadriplegics, deaf people, blind people and everyone in between. There is no disability that we can’t cater for.
“We always have quite a good day at Mollymook. It is a medium size wave generally and people get a really good ride on the day.”
Mr Rugg said the day was about “putting smiles on dials”. He said the event would not be possible without volunteers attending on the day.
"I think those that volunteers get just as much enjoyment as the participants,” he said.
“It doesn’t operate without the volunteers, that is our main focus. It is important that we get the volunteers from the community and get the community involved in the day.
“Anyone aged from seven to 70 is capable of being able to help in one way or another on the day.”
Participants and volunteers don’t need to register prior to the event.
“Just rock up on the day and have a good time,” Mr Rugg said.
“We are expecting about 150 people on the sand. We usually get about 30 participants and about 70 to 100 volunteers.
“We try and have a lot of volunteers per participant to make sure they are safe.
“It makes it a bit easier to provide more opportunities for participants to have a go.”
The event will be held on Saturday, November 11 at South Mollymook Beach. Volunteers and participants should meet in the car park near the golf club no later than 9.30am to check in.
Participant registration is $10, which includes a bag of goodies. Volunteer registration is free.
A Carrey ‘Cazza’ Klein memorial trophy will be awarded to a participant on the day in honour of Cazza and the work he did with Disabled Surfing Australia.
