“The funding is being provided under a $10 million volunteer grant program announced by the Minister for Social Services,” Federal Member for Gilmore Ann Sudmalis said.
“I encourage as many as possible of our Gilmore local volunteer organisations to apply for this funding.
“The Gilmore community is built on incredible organisations that run on the generosity of community volunteers.”
The grants are available to assist organisations with a variety of things including costs incurred by their volunteers such as first aid training, background security checks or transport for volunteers with disabilities.
“Community organisations can also purchase much-needed equipment, such as iPads or printers, so they can keep pace with technology,” Mrs Sudmalis said.
“In the 2015 round, 55 grants were provided to many organisations, including the Milton Quilters.”
Applications for volunteer grants close on December 20, 2016.
