Margie Sheedy was thrilled with her nomination by fellow community members to carry the baton through town.
The long-time resident is a popular face among the young and old.
Lyn McCall, who nominated her, described Mrs Sheedy as “larger-than-life”.
If I was to be selected, I would design something absolutely crazy to run in.

Mrs Sheedy was humble about the nomination.
“Her smile and swagger makes everyone she comes in contact with proud to say she lives in Ulladulla,” Mrs McCall said.
“She is always there, no matter what the event, dressed in one of her fabulous costumes; from a rabbit for the Hospital Auxiliary Easter egg hunt to being covered in Australian flags for Australia Day events.
“She is a well-deserving member of our community.”
Mrs Sheedy said it would “mean a lot” for her to carry the Queen’s baton through Ulladulla ahead of the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.
“I think it is wonderful. I will be up there watching the games as well,” she said.
“If I was to be selected, I would design something absolutely crazy to run in.”
Mrs McCall said Margie had “been involved in everything”.
"I am proud of what she has done for everyone over time,” she said.
“Without Margie, and others, we wouldn’t have the community that we have.
“She is recogniseable a mile away.”
The run would be no challenge for Mrs Sheedy.
“I do 10,000 steps a day, I still swim five laps a day, I do the steps at Rennies Beach, 136 steps, twice a day and I walk,” she said.
“It would be easy for me.”
Mrs Sheedy said she would not be able to do what she does for the community without the support of others.
“You can’t do things unless you have the support,” she said.
Mrs McCall encouraged others in the community to nominate Mrs Sheedy online. She will find out if she is successful in October 2017.
