The women’s league tag team, which includes Milton-Ulladulla’s Ebony Murray, Lauren Murty, Paige Hegyi, Olivia Paterson and Cheyanne Hatch, defeated the South West Razorbacks 20-4 at Ron Costello Oval, Shellharbour on Saturday.
”It was a really good hard game for our first run together as a team - a lot of us have played together somewhere along the lines, so we know what each other can do,” Bulldogs’ Ebony Murray said.
“We made a few silly mistakes and didn't complete our sets – but that's an easy fix.
“Our defence was really good, with a simple missed tag leading to the only try scored against us.”
Murray, who was last season’s top point scorer in all of Group 7, loves every chance she gets to play representative league tag.
“It’s always a great opportunity to represent your club and your group at that level,” she said.
“I love the game, so to be able to play it at a higher level with all the best players in the group is awesome.
“Overall, I think I played well - they broke our line a few times and I was always in the right position to tag them.
“The girls were always there chasing and backing up as well, which was great.
“I did give away a few penalties that were silly, so I know what I have to work on.”
The Warriors tries were scored by Alana Glasson (two), Carly Ryan and Tyler Finn, while Talia Atfield landed two conversions.
The team will now travel to West Belconnen to take on Western Rams this Saturday from 11am.
“It's going to be a really good game against the Western Rams, they have won both their games,” Murray said.
“They are going to be strong but if we stick to our game plan and complete our sets, I know we are good enough to play well and win the match.”
Saturday’s squad also included Kiama trio Tyler Finn, Alana Glasson and Kristi Pan, Nowra-Bomaderry’s Talia Atfield, Shellharbour City’s Georgia Thomas, Stingrays’ Allira Simon and Emily Burke and Jamberoo trio Carly Ryan, Lauren Rynheart and Brooke Smith.
In their match, the under 23s men’s team defeated the South West Razorbacks 28-20, meaning they will also travel to West Belconnen this Saturday to play Monaro from 12.15pm.
