She has also been illustrating a new children’s picture book called Everton and Will, written by Di Morrisey which was released last week.
The book has been in the works since last summer when Julie traveled to the central coast to stay with Di as she was writing the book.
It has been a long and tedious process for Julie, but she says seeing the finished book makes it all worth it.
“It’s like putting together an exhibition,” Julie said.
Julie first got into illustrating books through a narrative exhibition at Cupitts Winery.
She realised that all the elements for a book were there.
While it has been a steep learning curve she says that this book has brought all the elements together in the right way.
“I like having something to engage with on every page,” she said.
The book has been published by Harbour Publishing in Ulladulla and publisher, Garry Evans said he is looking forward to working with Julie on more projects.
“This book is something to share with families,” Garry said.
“I feel like with this book, she has found her place,
"If you get a pebble, you throw it in a pot, and if it ripples, you throw in a rock,” he said.
Julie and Harbourside Publishing have more books in the pipeline, and hope that the next book will be out around this time next year.
