Cate Brooks and Gus Lang from Ulladulla were the last parents to have a baby on the leap-year day in Moruya.
They had a baby girl, Arianne Olive Lang, at 4.28pm. Ms Brooks said Arianne arrived a week early.
“She decided she wanted to be a leapling,” she said.
Mr Lang said people had told them to try and avoid having their daughter on February 29.
“In the lead up to the birth, people were saying, ‘you have to avoid that day because its a nightmare’,” he said.
“But we think it is cool. It makes her extra-special.
“It will be hard to explain it to her when she gets older to understand why she doesn’t have a birthday on the same date every year.”
Mr Lang, who is an ex-paramedic said it was the first baby he had caught.
“I have driven many women to hospital when they were in labour but I never caught a baby,” he said.
“It was exciting to catch my own daughter. It was a really special moment.”
Arianne is sister to 11-year-old Lily Winward.
She weighed 3.692 kilograms and measured 52 centimeters.
