The weekend saw Milton Ulladulla Polocrosse Club send two teams to Bungendore for their carnival. Both teams were entered in the B grade competition.
The Milton 1 side played in Pool 2 and consisted of Luke Wilford, Kym McMaster, Georgia McMaster, Matthew Shea, Claire McMaster and Toni Murray. Saturday saw the side play Eurocoast and Sydney resulting in two wins.
Kym McMaster and Claire McMaster were fabulous in their role as serial pests in the two position and Georgia McMaster and Toni Murray defended brilliantly against the opposition’s attack.
On Sunday Milton 1 played Milton 2 from the other pool and despite Milton 2 holding them in the first two chukkas, Milton 1 ran away with a strong win to go through to the final.
The final saw Milton 1 against Eurocoast and in true finals tradition it took to the final chukka for Milton to go ahead by two goals. Well done Milton 1 on a fabulous display of horsemanship and ball skills, a real delight to watch.
Milton 2’s team consisted of Travis Pasfield, Sally Herne, Leon Murray, Sam Amy, Katrina Lavis and Jillian McCann. On Saturday they played Bungendore and Canberra. Bungendore came away with the win in the first game of the day, but Milton 2 rallied to gain a good win over Canberra.
On Sunday Milton played Milton with the young side gaining the upper hand, this put Milton 2 into the social final Sunday afternoon against Bungendore.
With some changes of positions happening, Milton won 6-3.
Special mention must go to Travis Pasfield who lost his stirrup twice and still scored the goals. Katrina Lavis riding for the first time in the attack position scored a sensational goal. Jillian McCann rode in the three position and was outstanding in her defence.
Beau McMaster and Drew Morton played in the junior competition and had a wonderful time competing against players much older than themselves. Both boys received encouragement awards for their efforts.
Matthew Shea won the Best Men’s player award and Georgia McMaster won the Best Woman’s player award.
The Milton Ulladulla club is hosting its carnival this weekend at Worrigee Common. Play begins at 8.30 both days.
