The Lake Conjola Men’s Bowls singles semi-finals were played on Sunday, April 24 with some quality bowls and close finishes.
Both games kept the large crowd on the edge of their seats.
Game One was between two strong players - Gary Kelly versus Gordon Mitchell.
Gary was finishing strongly as he had done in his last two games but Gordon had already built a well-deserved lead.
It was enough for Gordon to stay ahead and win the match 31-25.
Game Two was between another couple of our best players - Bob O’Brien versus Ian Smith.
This game was close all the way with Bob edging in front near the end before Smithy got a 3 and it was all over.
The final was held on Sunday, May 1.
This match was won by Smithy in a nail biter.
Gordon was leading 29-28 before Smithy got a 3 once again to finish as Champion!
