REPRESENTATIVE rugby union will hit the Batemans Bay this weekend with South Coast Rugby to host the Brumbies Provincial Championships over the three days of the June long weekend.
Four Milton Platypi stars; Kiyoshi Yamamoto, Mitchell Maddison, Sam Robins and Jamie Jones, are part of the South Coast team that will take on teams from Eden Monaro and Southern Inland, in a round robin competition at Hanging Rock Rugby Oval.
The Brumbies Provincial Championships are conducted every year by the ACT Brumbies to give players from South Coast, Monaro and Southern Inland the opportunity to not only enjoy representative rugby but to also gain selection at the next level in the Brumbies Provincial Team.
South Coast Rugby has struggled in the past few years to compete with these bigger Zones however everyone can expect an improvement this year with the inclusion of players from Bungendore.
The team this year appears to be better balanced with plenty of speed and size.
Southern Inland will again enter as the favourites but can expect stiff competition in both their games.
Games scheduled to be played are; South Coast vs Monaro (3pm Saturday), South Coast vs Southern Inland (3pm Sunday) and Monaro vs South Inland (11am Monday).
At the completion of the tournament, a Brumbies Provincial Team will be announced. The team will be picked from the best players on the weekend and they will then go onto play NSW Country Cockatoos on Saturday, June 18 in Bathurst.
