Brea Holland is taking children on magical musical journeys through her world of daydreams.
The 14-year-old from Ulladulla has taken the next step in her career as a children’s entertainer with the launch of her website and YouTube Channel, Brea Likes to Daydream.
She says her Brea Likes to Daydream space is a “happy place where dreams come true”.
“We have really tried to capture the daydream moment through incredible backdrops, face paint, costuming and of course music,” Brea said.
Her website has all kinds of activities for kids, from cooking to colouring in, as well as episodes of her show.
It also features Sir Lenny Cuddles, the dog who will appear from time to time in the show.
She uses music to educate kids and encourage them to think creatively to solve problems.
Her mum Sophia, a teacher, wrote the music and produced the show in line with Inquiry Based Learning (IBL) which is the current trend in education around the world.
IBL encourages children to use their critical thinking skills and imaginations to solve problems and create solutions.
“I bring my daydreams to life so the kids really feel like they’re a part of it,” Brea said.
“I believe it is so important for kids to dream big and to believe they can do anything and be anything.”
This is not Brea’s first foray into the world of entertainment. She has already made a name for herself, recently starring as Ariel in the Milton Follies production of the Little Mermaid and as the lead in Suessical Jr in 2015 as well as Godspell, the Milton Follies adult show in 2015.
She has also scooped dozens of eisteddfod prizes, has trained at NIDA and performed as a lead vocalist in the South Coast Touring Ensemble.
Her dream is to have a career in children’s entertainment or musical theatre.
“I love interacting with the audience, and trying to get them involved - like singing and dancing along with me,” Brea said.
