Aftercare have announced a series of free, fortnightly community workshops for mental health carers to take place in Nowra and Ulladulla.
The Language of Change workshops are designed for carers supporting a person with a mental health illness.
“The purpose is for carers to foster a sense of confidence and self-esteem, as well as respecting the very important roles they have in supporting their loved ones,” Aftercare therapist Maureen Rogers said.
“Many carers have expressed feelings of being ‘stuck in a rut’ and not knowing how to get out of those patterns.
“The workshops will very gently show carers they have all the necessary skills in themselves and how to regain control of their own direction.”
The workshops are free to attend and will be facilitated by Maureen Rogers, clinical supervisor, therapist and educator and Maria Houben, FACES, education and support worker.
Nowra – Aftercare, 52 Worrigee St, Nowra, Thursday August 25 from 1-3pm.
Ulladulla – Resource Centre, 78 St Vincent St, Ulladulla, Thursday August 18 from 10am – 12pm.
