A Cancer Outpatients Appeal teams golf day has raised approximately $10,000 before costs for Milton Hospital’s planned palliative care unit.
“We had great support from businesses in town and also from players who were not available to take part on the day but donated money,” appeal spokesman Peter Still said.
“In one case a person contributed $1000 - just amazingly generous.
“More donations may come and we still have some outgoings but $10,000 is close to the amount people put in so far.”
More than 100 players signed up for the four-person Ambrose event and most stuck the distance, despite stormy weather at the Mollymook Hilltop course.
Nobody hit a hole in one so the prize, a compact SUV vehicle has jackpotted.
Organisers already say the event has drawn enough support to run again next year and the car will be waiting for a top shot next time.
The Cancer Outpatients Appeal has raised nearly $600,000 and is aiming for approximately $100,000 more towards the hospital’s new palliative care unit.
