Entrants are being called for the Children’s Poetry Competition, held at the Milton Show on Saturday, March 4.
The competition is a chance for children 13 and under to compete in written and recited verse.
Poetry Competition coordinator John Davis believes poetry is often neglected, and something many school children should “give a go”.
“I believe for school children it is very instrumental giving them a go at public speaking and finding something else than participating at the beach,” he said.
Come and perform a poem and have a blast.
- John Davis
“You can recite a poem on animals or birds, or even just a nice day.
“You can’t restrict the creativity of the children.”
Three experienced judges will adjudicate the winner, although each child participating will receive a prize.
“Come and perform a poem and have a blast,” Mr Davis said.
“Every child that performs will receive recognition, a book, ribbons and even cash prizes.”
