Amy Bryant’s three-year-old daughter Bexley runs outside to see the garbage truck collect the family’s bins every Tuesday morning at Lake Conjola.
“Bexley loves the bin truck and gets super excited even when she hears it in the street behind us,” Mrs Bryant said.
“She will then wait until he comes past waving and sometimes blowing kisses.”
Just before Christmas, Bexley was waiting like every other bin collection day when she was surprised by the garbage man, who gifted her a toy truck her following his collection.
“The day he gave her the truck she [Bexley] was waiting like any other day. He stopped his truck and walked our emptied garbage bin back to our house.,” Mrs Bryant said.
“I noticed he had a new toy garbage truck in his hand and he asked me for my permission to give it to my daughter.
“I was shocked by his kindness. He handed Bexley the truck and she was over the moon. She said thank you before running inside to play with it.”
Mrs Bryant said the family was “grateful for the man’s generosity”.
“It just made our little girl so happy,” she said.
“The garbage man said they had been giving the the trucks to kids and he found that even little girls loved and appreciated them.
“He also said that each week their routes/areas change however he had remembered Bexley from a few weeks prior and how excited she was to see him.”
Bexley is still playing with the toy truck daily and still greets the garbage man on a Tuesday morning with excitement.
“She still plays with this truck daily and each week when she hears the garbage truck doing his rounds she grabs hers in excitement,” Mrs Bryant said.
To the garbage collector, Mrs Bryan said, “whoever you are, thank you!”.
Bexley shares the truck with her 11-month-old sibling Emerson.
