Good news this week with a unanimous decision by Shoalhaven City Council to increase by $5000 its contribution to funding the 2018 Blessing of the Fleet Festival. It might not have been staged here but our participants in the Queen’s Baton Relay certainly made an impression when the event rolled through Batemans Bay on Tuesday.

After so much road trauma during summer it was a surprise to learn there were only two intensive care paramedics allocated to the area between Helensburgh and Ulladulla. Not surprising is the campaign by Australian Paramedics Association to have this rectified.
Finally, a promising follow-up to last week’s story about the push to secure a second high school in the district. Following a meeting with Education Minister Rob Stokes, South Coast MP Shelley Hancock said there was still hope the Shoalhaven Anglican School would be acquired for use as an educational facility. However, she urged residents to seek out the petition and add their names to it. The fight goes on.
Catch you next week.
