The event, which started in 1999, will attract more than 200 players and spectators to the courts from Friday, February 16 to Sunday, February 18.
“In terms of participating numbers, this is the biggest ever,” MUDTA committee member and publicity officer Janice Shalhoub said.
The tournament will attract players from all over NSW and Victoria, who will take on a large contingent from the MUDTA vying for more than $5,000 in prize money.
“An added excitement will be the presence of world-class Victorian Andrew Rae – number one ranked player in 65s singles and doubles,” Tournament director Mary Lou Barclay said.
“He is renowned for hardly ever missing.”
Local players to keep an eye on are Yvonne Perrin, Pat Callahan, Barbara Hollett, Lee Dickson, Lara Bennett, Barry Thompson, Chris Stiller, Pauline McIlveen, Herb Chee, Phil Bryant, Peter Gumley, John Lincoln, Mike Lynn, Ben Van Lierop, Paul Woodcock, Norm Holcroft, Doug Parker and Geoff Cook.
“The 20th year celebrations provides a special opportunity to recognise past successes and achievements,” Shalhoub said.
A barbecue will be held on Saturday night to celebrate the 20th event, with special guests including Councillor John Wells, president of tennis seniors NSW Mick Bruton and Catherine and Quentin Schofield.
Entry is free for spectators.
