Buzz is already building around other show attractions, including the inaugural cheese and butter competition and the contest for the district’s best sausages. What’s not to like?
There’s a fair amount of excitement down Burrill Lake way too, with work on the foreshore associated with the new bridge progressing well. Word is, once completed the town will become a fish and chip paradise.
A couple of stories that really caught my eye this week were the profiles of harbour slip master Paul Helmore and his wonderful tales of shipping on the South Coast, and bugler Peter Williams, who has been playing his haunting instrument for 76 years.
Finally, best wishes to Lake Tabourie’s Joy McCormack, who turned 100 last Sunday. Her secret to longevity: a daily sherry and an active lifestyle. Happy birthday, Joy.
