Murchie, 20, played a starring role to guide the Australian under 23s squad to victory at the 2018 Rugby League Commonwealth Championships, held at Redcliffe's Dolphin Stadium.
This was the second time the Canberra Raiders forward had played in this nine-a-side tournament, going one better then four years ago in Scotland, when his side lost the final to Papua New Guinea.
“It’s amazing to go one better this time around – it’s such an incredible feeling knowing you really achieved something special with a great group of boys,” Murchie said.
“Playing in a team where everyone turns up for one another in defence is great.

“You’ve just go to look at how little points we conceded across the tournament and it really shows we were doing that.”
Murchie’s side only conceded one try the whole first day, as they chalked up wins against Wales (32-nil), Scotland (36-nil) and Fiji (24-4).
The team, coached by Adrian Lam, then defeated Samoa 18-10 in the semi-final before edging out Tonga 14-8 in the final.
“It’s always amazing to being able to pull on that green and gold jumper and play for your country – I loved every minute of it,” Murchie said.
“The boys were outstanding across the whole weekend on and off the field, and the scorelines showed that.
“Personally, I was happy with my performance.
“I had a focus of going forward and laying the platform, so some of our quicker boys could play off the back of it and I think I achieved that.”
Australia made a clean sweep of the championships, winning the women’s and physical disability divisions as well.
Murchie, who has just inked a new three-year deal with the Canberra Radiers, will continue preparations ahead of round one.
Australian squad: Corey Allan, Jade Anderson, Michael Carroll, Scott Drinkwater, David Fifita, Brendan Frei, Harry Grant, Luke Huth, Paul Momirovski, Jack Murchie, Ryan Papenhuyzen, Ky Rodwell, Hayden Schwass, Luke Sharpe and Katoni Staggs.
