This week Shoalhaven City Council lent its voice to the FIX IT NOW campaign by calling on the federal and state governments to use Black Spot funding to improve safety on the Princes Highway between the Jervis Bay turnoff and Milton. Another person to speak out on highway safety was sales rep Mick Milroy. Like many of us who use the highway in our day-to-day jobs, he often wonders if he will make his destination. Next week we will hear from others whose lives have been affected by tragedy on the highway – and we will make sure their stories are heard by our politicians.

Lives were certainly turned upside down in Tathra last Sunday after the devastating fire swept through the town. Once again, the entire South Coast community has rallied to help. Of course, it’s not just people affected so we were delighted to see Wildlife Rescue South Coast launch its appeal to look after injured and displaced wildlife.
We saw locals do their bit for the environment closer to home. The huge Clean Up Australia Day effort at Lake Conjola saw 350kg of rubbish removed by 14 volunteers – an extraordinary effort. Well done.
Well done, too, to The Entertainers. Tickets for the their upcoming production of The Music Never Dies go on sale tomorrow, so you better be quick if you to snap one up.
Catch you next week.
