Sunday’s Blessing of the Fleet Festival was a blaze of colour and movement on a brilliant sunny day. It was triumph because last year it looked as if it might go ahead because of a lack of sponsorship. But the community rallied, business, council and the state government got on board with funds and sponsorship and it was a resounding success. Well done to the organisers and everyone else who got behind this signature community event.
Congratulations were also in order for Milton cake decorator Eileen Scrivener, whose creations were showcased at the Sydney Royal Arts and Crafts show.
There was good news out of Shoalhaven City Council, with unanimous support for the Lighthouse suicide prevention group, which is steering the Warden Head Lighthouse redevelopment. Once again we see our community taking the lead to make our town safer.
Among them are the good folk from Marine Rescue, who on Wednesday rushed to the aid of the occupants of a capsized tinnie off Bawley Point. These volunteers do a great job.
Catch you next week.
