Jeremy Gallacher, 26, was convicted of mid range drink-driving, driving during a disqualification period and also fined $659 for driving an unregistered car.
According to facts presented to the court the accused was travelling north on the Princes Highway at Lake Tabourie about 6.50pm on November 25.
Approximately 500 metres south of River Road the driver had “fallen asleep at the wheel”, causing his vehicle to cross onto the southbound lane before colliding into an embankment.
A passing motorist stopped and contacted emergency services.
When police arrived about 8pm, officers noted his breath smelt of “intoxicating liquor” and he was unsteady on his feet. Gallacher later blew 0.12 at the Ulladulla Police Station.
