The cook off was held to celebrate Youth Week NSW at the Ulladulla Youth Centre.
Between eight to 10 children took on the challenge at various times throughout the afternoon. The young chefs were split into two teams as they prepared a two-course meal – nachos and waffles.
Judges agreed the first course of nachos were “tasty” and the contestants had showed they could work well together.
“Both teams did a really good job, but one team shined brighter with presentation,” a judge said.
“There’s been some great team work, lots of fun, laughing and dancing.”
One contestant, Axel, said the idea of a cook off challenge was “really good” for young people.
“It was fun and enjoyable,” he said.
He had cooked nachos before, but learning how to prepare waffles was new.
Youth Week celebrations continue with a BMX workshop at Ulladulla skate park on Friday from 11am to noon. Children under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult.
